style of teaching and feedback

“Once again my wife and I would like to offer you many thanks for your support to [our daughter], which was definitely over and above the call of duty!” (Unsolicited written feedback from a parent of a student).

“Great lecturer! Awesome!  Very well prepared every week! One of the best lecturers I had at UQ.” (Feedback on course evaluation form, Semester 1 2010)

“Thanks so much Laura for all the feedback, it was a great help. And I really appreciate how quickly you got back to us!” (Unsolicited written feedback from a supervisee).

When interacting with students, Laura endeavours to create a relationship and environment which helps them to feel comfortable, engages them in the process of active learning, and fosters the development of critical thinking and a strong working knowledge of the scientific method. She derives a great sense of enjoyment from interacting with students and considers it a privilege to be in a position where she can contribute to the development of another person’s knowledge, skills and competence.
